Abstract:
Background: Metabolic syndrome often coexists with Dyslipidemia, hypothyroidism, and cardiovascular comorbidities, necessitating a multidimensional therapeutic approach. Ayurvedic Panchsutri therapy offers a comprehensive modality addressing metabolic, endocrine, and cardiovascular dysfunction through lifestyle, diet, Panchakarma, and herbal interventions.
Methods: A 52-year-old female with a history of Dyslipidemia, hypothyroidism, and acute coronary syndrome (ACS) presented with complaints of constipation, disturbed sleep, general weakness, and insomnia. An integrative approach involving Panchsutri was implemented: a 1000-calorie therapeutic diet, Hruday Shudhikaran Panchakarma (including Abhyanga, thermal vasodilatation, PRDA, Hrudaydhara, and Shirodhara), yoga, exercise, monitoring, and drug tapering. Outcomes were evaluated over 90 days.
Results: Significant improvements were observed in anthropometric, cardiovascular, endocrine, and lipid parameters. Weight reduced from 55.4 kg to 53.1 kg, abdominal girth from 83 cm to 78 cm, and TSH levels from 5.76 to 1.7. The patient was successfully tapered allopathic medications. Total cholesterol decreased from 295 mg/dL to 238 mg/dL, LDL from 210.74 mg/dL to 166.4 mg/dL, and HDL dropped from 56 to 42 mg/dL. The stress test normalized and LVEF remained stable.
Conclusions: Panchsutri Ayurvedic therapy demonstrated a favourable impact in managing complex metabolic and cardiovascular conditions through systemic detoxification, modulation of neurohormonal balance, and functional rejuvenation, underscoring the potential for integration in chronic disease care.
